February Intensive Revision – 2024 (Online)

– a series of 3-Day (GCSE) and 4-Day (A-level) blocks between 13th and 20th February 2022

About the February Half Term Intensive Revision for 2024 – one-to-one teaching

During the intensive revision, teaching is focused on key topics on a particular subject. Key concepts are explained and reinforced, followed by exam skills and technique, enabling the student to build in confidence and master exam technique. The student is expected to provide a list of the topics that he or she wants to focus on before the course starts. Where the student is undecided, the teacher chooses the topics.

GCSE online revision

There is a total study time of 12 hours spread over two days – six hours per day. Each day, the student is taught by the teacher over a 3.5-hour period, including a couple of short breaks in the middle. After the teaching, the student is set work – usually exam-standard questions, based on the topics just covered, and is expected to spend about 2.5 hours on the questions. The student is expected to take a picture of the questions attempted and send it in as an e-mail attachment. The work set is reviewed at the start of the lesson the following day, and more teaching follows. This is a very effective course and serves to reinforce confidence in key areas.

A-level online revision

This involves a total study time of 20 hours spread over three days – about 6.5 to 7 hours per day. Each day, the student is taught by the teacher over a 4.5-hour period, including two to three short breaks in the middle. After the teaching, the student is set work – usually exam-standard questions, based on the topics just covered, and is expected to spend about 2.5 to 3 hours on the questions. The student is expected to take a picture of the questions attempted and send it in as an e-mail attachment. The work set is reviewed at the start of the lesson the following day, and more teaching follows. This is a very effective course and serves to reinforce confidence in key areas.

More about our flagship Saturday classes

We run special Saturday sessions for KS3, GCSE, IGCSE and A-Level students, which are designed to go through the most important aspects of each student’s specification. Key concepts are explained with greater clarity, giving the student a much better grasp of them – reinforcing understanding and boosting confidence. We are offering a block of special sessions from February to June, consisting of 12 Saturdays in total. There is a Diagnostic Test at the start, followed by 10 more Saturdays of study. At GCSE, there is one hour of study each day per subject, and students study four or five subjects, typically – Maths, English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology. At A-level, each subject is studied for 90 minutes and most students do about two subjects on the day. Classes are between 9.30am to about 3.30pm, but some students are required to be there only for the duration on their timetable. These classes have run since 2004, with an excellent record of success by our students.
