Tuition Consultation A (Online)

Consultation Tutorial - GCSE (online)

GCSE Consultation Tutorial A (online lesson via Zoom/Microsoft Teams)

  1. 1st Teaching session – 50 minutes for GCSE students
  2. Assignment set – usually exam standard questions, based on the topic covered
  3. A 30-minute tutorial, to go through the work that was set – 2nd Teaching session

There is a degree of flexibility in setting the exact number of minutes for the lessons. The total is 80 minutes a week, which is usually 50 - 30 (50 minutes for the first lesson and 30 minutes for the second lesson). Other possible alternatives  are 60 - 20 or even the whole 80 minutes in one go, depending on how the lesson is going or student's or teacher's availability.

Detailed explanation of consultation tutorial

The first teaching session – this is 50 minutes and covers a specific topic(s). This is usually identified by the student, but, if not, the teaching consultant will decide on what is helpful to the student at this particular stage of their education

Milestone Task – GCSE

At the end of the teaching session, questions are set in what we call a “milestone task” piece of work.

The student is expected to do the milestone task by answering the questions and submitting them, either by e-mail or into our online portal. We expect the work to be printed out and in handwriting, as this reflects the way the actual GCSE exam will be done. Practising in the form of writing on paper is vital, as part of the exam technique training.

The work is expected to be done and submitted within 48 hours. The teacher will check all the work.

The second session – the tutorial. This is teaching for 30 minutes, and the tutorial session is when the teaching consultant goes through key elements (usually about  30  marks' worth) of the questions that were set. The teacher will explain the answers and also ensure that at least 20 to 25 marks' worth of the work is marked – with written or verbal comment provided.

Before the consultation session, the student is expected to complete an information sheet, to inform the teacher of the areas he or she wishes to focus on.

The student will have access to the video of the teaching session for up to one year after the course.
